Stasi Friend
Clinical Intern
Puyallup
I believe counseling is most effective when it feels like a true partnership built on trust, collaboration, and authenticity. My goal is to create a supportive and nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable showing up as themselves and sharing their experiences openly. I understand that reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, and I strive to meet each client with empathy, respect, and genuine curiosity about their story. I believe every person has strengths, resilience, and the ability to grow, even during difficult seasons of life.
My approach is primarily client-centered, and I often lean into Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I enjoy helping clients develop practical coping skills, build emotional awareness, strengthen communication, and create healthier patterns that support their goals and overall well-being. At the same time, I recognize that therapy is not one-size-fits-all, so I work collaboratively with clients to tailor the counseling process to their individual needs, experiences, and values.
My background in education and social services has shaped my passion for supporting others through challenges, transitions, and personal growth. Those experiences strengthened my understanding of the importance of connection, patience, and meeting people where they are. As a counseling intern, I am committed to continuing to learn and grow while providing clients with a space where they feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout their journey.
