We all come into life with the need for connection, to care and be cared for by others. Life then begins to shape us through development, life experiences, relationships, environments, social systems, social position, and culture. We each carry a story about who we are in relation to ourselves, others, and the world. Healing the emotional & psychological wounds from life can be a journey filled with challenges, rewards, setbacks, discovered resiliencies, and hope. It can take courage and a belief in yourself to take that step to share your journey with another and engage in therapy; I am honored, inspired, and grateful for this work to bear witness to and stand with you on this journey.
Theoretical Orientation:
I build my practice on the fundamentals of a person-centered foundation, with a humanistic-existential ideology. Therefore, I believe it is important to strive for creating a space in the therapeutic relationship that feels safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental. The opportunity to feel truly heard and seen is vital for healing and working toward one’s growth potential. I value and respect the wisdom that each person contains about their identity, experiences, and life challenges. I invite a teamwork approach, or co-creation, to treatment planning and to the strategies we include in each session. I bring my experience in using tools from CBT, DBT, ACT, and mind-body therapy.
